Social Media Policy

Social Media & Privacy Policy**

Social media offers a modern way for individuals and organizations to connect. While we value community engagement, it is important to understand that confidentiality and privacy cannot be guaranteed on public platforms.

At Joshua Tree Learning Centre, protecting your privacy is a top priority. As regulated
professionals, our clinicians maintain strict confidentiality regarding your personal information and therapeutic relationship. With the exception of rare circumstances — such as risk of harm to yourself or others, or a legal subpoena — everything shared within sessions remains private and protected.

If you choose to comment on or interact with our social media pages, others may infer that you or your family are connected to our services. While we believe there is strength in being open about mental health and learning supports, we encourage you to make informed decisions when engaging publicly online.

Friending & Following

Our clinicians and team members do not seek out or accept client connections on personal social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn). If an accidental connection
occurs, it will be removed to protect your confidentiality.

Joshua Tree Learning Centre maintains professional social media accounts for educational
content, community updates, and awareness initiatives (such as Quiet Zones, camps, and
workshops). There is no expectation for clients to follow or engage with our accounts. Your privacy always comes first.

To maintain professional boundaries and avoid dual relationships, we respectfully ask that
clients and families do not connect with clinicians through personal social media accounts.

Messaging & Communication

Please do not use social media messaging (DMs, Messenger, etc.) to contact your clinician.
These platforms do not meet our privacy standards and are not monitored regularly.

If you need to reach your clinician or our team, please:

  • Call our office directly
  • Email [email protected]
  • Use the secure contact form on our website

Messages related to your care should always be sent through secure channels.

Website & Secure Contact

Our website contains public information about our services, programs, and community
initiatives. When contacting us through our website, please include:

  • The clinician’s name (if applicable)
  • The word “Confidential” in the subject line

This ensures your message is forwarded appropriately and securely.

Search Engines & Online Information

Joshua Tree clinicians do not search for client information online or review personal social
media content without your permission. In rare situations involving safety concerns, limited searches may occur if clinically necessary.

Joshua Tree Learning Centre does not provide emergency or crisis services. If you are in
immediate crisis, please contact emergency services or a local crisis line.

Business Review Sites

You may see Joshua Tree Learning Centre listed on business review websites. Some sites add businesses automatically without our request.

We do not solicit public reviews from clients. Posting publicly about your experience may unintentionally reveal your private information. Additionally, clinicians are ethically limited in their ability to respond to reviews in order to protect confidentiality.

If you have feedback or concerns, we strongly encourage you to speak directly with your
clinician or contact our leadership team at [email protected]. Open communication is often a meaningful part of growth and resolution.

GPS & Location Services

If you have GPS or location-based services enabled on your device, social media apps may
share your location publicly. This could lead others to infer that you are accessing services at Joshua Tree Learning Centre. Please review your device privacy settings if this is a concern.

Our Commitment

Joshua Tree Learning Centre is committed to protecting the dignity, privacy, and trust of every child, teen, adult, and family we serve. If you have any questions about this policy, we welcome the conversation.
