Group therapy for children who may be experiencing anxiety, and/or anxiety symptoms. In this group children ages 7-10 will be able to explore their feelings in a healthy and safe environment while learning more about their own “worry dragons”, and how to tame them. Coping strategies will be explored through cognitive behaviour therapy techniques, in a language children can comprehend. This group will focus on helping explain what anxiety is while emphasizing helpful coping strategies. Trauma-Informed Yoga (Nannette Choboter, Certified Yoga Instructor,

Trauma-Informed Yoga: Ages 12+
The experience of trauma is not a prerequisite for this class, but I believe that all people have had some form of trauma in their lifetime, whether it be a little “t” or a big “T” trauma. In this trauma-informed class, participants are accepted unconditionally and provided a safe container facilitated by trust, control, and choice practice elements. This 60-minute beginner yoga class focuses on bringing the body, mind, and spirt to a quiet resting state using breath and slow movement, to create calm and balance. Typically, the class begins with meditation/breathing work with much of the class being a Yin-based practice, consisting of lengthening the connective tissue and fascia and connective tissue through performing different poses using props. These include blocks, mats, blankets, and even the wall. The class will finish with one or two restorative poses leaving you feeling calm and peaceful.

Individuals who identify as neurodivergent may have a diagnosis of: Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, Dyslexia, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Dyscalculia, Tourette’s Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety, Down Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, William Syndrome.
How will horses help develop these skills for resilience?
Horses are highly attuned to human emotions and become living, breathing metaphors or stand-ins for the people, issues, and challenges in an individual’s life. They also offer opportunities for safe reflection and compelling feedback regarding fears and anxieties or challenges that individuals may be facing. Horses have a unique sensitivity that helps people understand their own internal processes more readily than what may be achieved in hours of talking. This program utilizes the EAGALA model and is TRAUMA INFORMED.
PARENTS:
While your child is in the session in the arena with horses, parents will have the opportunity to gather with other parents in the group around a campfire. This is an opportunity to socialize with parents of neurodiverse children and learn from the people who get it the most – other parents. And….it’s just an evening to relax and enjoy the company of others around a campfire in the gorgeous valley near Lumsden.

1) Family Session EAGALA Group Therapy
- Scheduled Length: 90 Minutes

2) Resilience With Horses – EAGALA Group Therapy – For Individuals Who Identify as Neurodivergent (Beaver Creek Ranch)

Participants will discover and learn core mental health and resilience constructs that are vital
to emotional health and well-being. While working with horses in ground-based activities
(there is no riding involved), youth will learn about positive coping, communication, awareness of self and others, action, motivation, and problem-solving to help them develop and improve their social/emotional abilities.
- Scheduled Length: 90 Minutes (Date – Wednesday October 4, 2023, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM)
- This is a ONE TIME ONLY Session Price: $180/person
- Ages 8-12
- Cut off for registration is Monday (of that week) at 4:00 PM
- Offered at Beaver Creek Ranch (Lumsden, SK)
- Max 6 people per session
- Each participant must secure their own transportation to and from the facility.
3) Resilience With Horses – EAGALA Group Therapy – For Individuals Who Identify as Neurodivergent (Beaver Creek Ranch)

Individuals who identify as neurodivergent may have a diagnosis of: Autism, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, Dyslexia, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Dyscalculia, Tourette’s Syndrome, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anxiety, Down Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, Sensory Processing Disorder, William Syndrome.
How will horses help develop these skills for resilience?
Horses are highly attuned to human emotions and become living, breathing metaphors or stand-ins for the people, issues, and challenges in an individual’s life. They also offer opportunities for safe reflection and compelling feedback regarding fears and anxieties or challenges that individuals may be facing. Horses have a unique sensitivity that helps people understand their own internal processes more readily than what may be achieved in hours of talking. This program utilizes the EAGALA model and is TRAUMA INFORMED.
PARENTS:
While your child is in the session in the arena with horses, parents will have the opportunity to gather with other parents in the group around a campfire. This is an opportunity to socialize with parents of neurodiverse children and learn from the people who get it the most – other parents. And….it’s just an evening to relax and enjoy the company of others around a campfire in the gorgeous valley near Lumsden.

4) Women’s EAGALA Group Therapy: Resilience with Horses for Women
(With Stacey Adelman M.Ed. Registered Psychologist)
This program is for women of all ages who are facing challenges in their lives including anxiety, depression, codependency, grief and loss, divorce, body image, low self-esteem, and relationship difficulties with family and friends. This program is solution-focused, and the activities are planned around the horses’ reflected behaviours in response to the participants. Women in this group will work together to learn skills for resilience.
- Scheduled Length: 90 Minutes (1:30 PM – 3:00 PM)
- Price: $750 (covered by extended health benefits)
- Runs for 4 weeks – Sept 28th, Oct 5th, Oct 12th, Oct 26th
