Glenda Hewalo was born and raised in Regina. Even though she was a “city kid”, she had a strong, unexplainable desire to be with horses. From a very early age she knew there was something very special and magical about horses.

Living and working in the city, there were not many opportunities to be with horses until Glenda discovered therapeutic riding and became a volunteer. She got “horse time” preparing the horses and developed many friendships while assisting physically and mentally challenged children experience the therapeutic benefits of horses.

At midlife, Glenda’s horse dreams finally came true; she moved to the country and purchased her very own horse (which grew to 6 horses, 1 miniature horse and 2 miniature donkeys). For the next 23 years, she studied and practiced natural horsemanship with a strong focus on groundwork and safety. As a successful student of the Parelli Natural Horsemanship Program she was inspired to share her horsemanship knowledge and skills with 4H groups; youths, and adults.

Glenda’s passion is playing with horses on the ground at Liberty. “Liberty is where the horses are free to move around (without ropes or halters) and can choose whether they want to be with me or not. Liberty is all about trust, communication and relationships.”

“Horses have always been a form of therapy for me. I am extremely proud and excited to share my horses; my facility; my skills and knowledge and team up with Joshua Tree Learning professionals to offer the Eagala Model which provides an opportunity for people to create change and discover solutions for themselves through the horses. Glenda is an Equine Specialist who is Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (Eagala) certified.
