Counselling and Psychoeducational Assessments for Children, Adolescents and Adults.

Deanna Schwindt is a wife to a loving husband, a mother of 3 beautiful children.  She is also a teacher with 17 years of experience, working primarily with children with intensive needs. As a member of the Response to Intervention Team (RTI) Deanna has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience supporting and advocating for children in the school setting. This experience extends beyond the educational environment to her personal life where she continuously advocates for family members who have intensive needs, such as hearing loss and autism.

Deanna has always had an interest in teaching and helping others and in 2000 went to Australia where she worked as a Governess (Over the Air Teacher) and a Jillaroo on large cattle ranches. The experience as a Governess solidified her interest in a teaching career, resulting in acquisition of her B. Ed in 2005. She entered her teaching career as a Middle Years and Special Education Teacher with Holy Family RCSDD in Weyburn, Sk.

Deanna has always had an interest in psychology and decided to pursue her Master of Educational Psychology through the University of Regina. Deanna’s love for horses and dreams to provide equine therapy led to acquiring certification as an Equine Assisted Growth & Learning Association (Eagala) Mental Health Professional in 2023.

Deanna has a passion in helping others reach their full potential and believes she can do this through her current role at Joshua Tree Learning Centre providing psychoeducational assessments as well as talk and Eagala therapy. She truly believes that all have it within themselves to grow and be the best they can be through creativity and using a holistic approach that offers a variety of means to success.

My work in psychology and education is inspired by my youngest brother, Joshua.

Joshua loved life and was committed to achieving his potential, despite the challenges he sometimes faced. From a young age, I learned the power of a holistic, collaborative approach to supporting Joshua meet his potential, and as his sister, I was honoured to be a part of his team.

Joshua achieved what many thought he wouldn’t, with the support of loving and devoted parents, a team of caring professionals, assistive technology, and a “two thumbs up” attitude from Joshua.
