Community Town Hall on School Exclusion
Helping Every Child Belong at School
A Community Town Hall on School Exclusion
Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, build friendships and feel included at school. For some Saskatchewan children with disabilities and complex mental health needs, attending school full-time remains out of reach.
Join Joshua Tree Learning Centre for a morning of listening, shared experiences and constructive conversation about how we can better support children and families.
- Tuesday, October 20, 2026
- 9:00–11:00 a.m.
-
Royal Regina Golf Club
5401 11th Avenue, Regina, SK
Why This Conversation Matters
Inclusion Saskatchewan’s report, Unseen Impacts: The Reality of School Exclusion for Students with Disabilities in Saskatchewan, estimated that approximately 1,250–1,350 students with disabilities were excluded from attending school full-time during the 2024–25 school year. (Read full report here: Unseen Impacts: The Reality of School Exclusion for Students with Disabilities in Saskatchewan)
Behind every number is a child missing opportunities to learn and belong, and a family working to find the support they need.
This town hall will bring together people with different experiences and perspectives to explore what is working, where support falls short and how schools, health services, disability supports and community organizations can work better together.
What to Expect
- Families’ experiences and perspectives on school exclusion.
- A moderated conversation about barriers, supports and opportunities for change.
- Ideas for strengthening collaboration across education, health and community services.
- An opportunity to contribute to a shared conversation about helping every child belong.
One morning won’t solve everything—but it can be a meaningful start.
Who Should Attend?
We welcome parents and caregivers, educators, disability advocates, health and mental health professionals, community agencies, businesses and government representatives.
Whether you have lived experience, support children in your work or want to help build a more inclusive community, your perspective matters.
