In partnership Caring Hearts and the Community Initiatives Fund, Joshua Tree will be hosting Groups for Children and Teens who are grieving.

Parenting Through Grief

Tuesday, May 25 – 7:00 – Zoom

This group is for you if you are parenting a child or teen through the grieving process due to the death of a loved one. This presentation will provide information about the grieving process for children and teens at various stages of development, and how you can support them in this process.

This group is for you if you are parenting a child or teen through the grieving process due to the death of a loved one. This presentation will provide information about the grieving process for children and teens at various stages of development, and how you can support them in this process.

Teen Grief Group

June 2, 9, 16, 23 – 6:00-7:30 – in-person

This group is for any teenager experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. Emotional support, strategies for coping and resources will be provided by Stacey Adelman M.Ed. Registered Psychologist and Shelby Shivak, M.A. Clinical Psychology, University of Regina, Ph. D. Practicum Student. 45 minutes of each class will incorporate yoga for grief, guided by Janet Valley, certified yoga instructor for children, teens and adults.

Kids Grief Group (10-12)

June 2, 9, 16, 23 – 4:00-5:30 – in-person

This group is for any child between the ages of 10 and 12 who is experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. Emotional support, strategies for coping and resources will be provided by Stacey Adelman M.Ed. Registered Psychologist and Shelby Shivak, M.A. Clinical Psychology, University of Regina, Ph. D. Practicum Student. 45 minutes of each class will incorporate yoga for grief, guided by Janet Valley, certified yoga instructor for children, teens and adults.

July 19, 20, 22, 23 – 10:30-12:00 – in person

This group is for any child between the ages of 7 and 9 who is experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. Emotional support, strategies for coping and resources will be provided by Stacey Adelman M.Ed. Registered Psychologist and Shelby Shivak, M.A., Clinical Psychology, University of Regina, Ph. D. Practicum Student. 45 minutes of each class will incorporate mindful movement sequences guided by Patrick Hill, Certified Anat Baniel Method Practitioner.

Teen Grief Art Therapy Group 

July 26-July 30 – 10:30-12 – in-person

This group is for any teen who is experiencing grief due to the death of a loved one. Each session participants will be guided through therapeutic activities facilitated by professional counsellor and creative arts therapist, Vanya Hanson. Teens will also be supported by Shelby Shivak, M.A., University of Regina, Ph. D. Practicum Student in Clinical Psychology.
