The Art therapy group for teachers dealing with trauma will be a safe space for teachers to connect, develop their sense of self, and acquire trauma-informed awareness for their classrooms. As teachers return to school this fall, many will face COVID-19 related trauma as well as previously existing issues with their students. This group will assist teachers so that they may recognize the signs of trauma in their students, and protect themselves from the effects of vicarious trauma, and burnout. The educational and therapeutic aspects of this group will be supported by a heavy emphasis on experiential and creative art-making activities. The participants will be led through a series of themes that relate to trauma as we develop ways of building resilience in others, and equally as important oneself.
